William R. Fitzgerald

Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Ascent Capital Group, Inc.

William R. Fitzgerald was named Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Ascent Capital Group, Inc., formerly Ascent Media Corporation, in September 2008. In addition, Bill holds the post of Senior Vice President of Liberty Media Corporation. At Liberty, Bill is involved with evaluating new investment opportunities and managing various assets in its content networks, technology, and content distribution businesses. Prior to the sale of Ascent Capital Group, Inc.’s media assets in late 2010, Bill served as Chairman of Ascent Media Group (“AMG”) and was appointed interim CEO of AMG in June 2010.

Bill was previously Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Operations Administration for AT&T Broadband, formerly known as Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI), where he oversaw and directed the company's broadband operations strategies and managed the overall execution and administration of the corporate operating activities. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of TCI, with responsibility for all corporate and field activities related to the company's broadband services operations, and before that was Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Partnership Relations for TCI, where he managed the company's M&A transaction activities and strategies, including joint ventures and partnerships, primarily in conjunction with its cable television system assets. In addition, Bill was responsible for the company's cable television affiliate partnerships and joint ventures. Bill joined TCI in March of 1996 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.
